Sakamaki Izayoi (逆廻 十六夜 Sakamaki Izayoi) is the main protagonist of the series "Mondaiji tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru So Desu Yo?" Izayoi is a young teenage boy and currently one of the leading members of the [No Name] community.
Appearance[]
Izayoi has light blonde hair, which spikes downwards in all directions, and a set of purple eyes. He wears white headphones, with black straps and a flame logo on each side. He has stated that he wears them to keep his hair down, but it is revealed later that he most likely wears them, because of a promise he made with Homura, while still back in his own world. He wears a dark blue gakuran and keeps only one button in place. The rest are unbuttoned to reveal a yellow undershirt beneath the uniform. Izayoi also wears pants of the same color, and a pair of tennis shoes with black, white and gold tones.
In Volume 3 of the light novel, his headphones were stolen by Calico Cat, then through a series of unfortunate circumstances, destroyed in the Underwood story Arc; coincidentally, this is where his gakuran was also torn in battle, and later made into makeshift bandages for Gry when the latter was injured. Hence, after the Underwood arc, Izayoi underwent a major wardrobe change, consisting of a yellow shirt under a red zip vest and a black jacket. He wears gray pants in place of his old ones and he is still seen wearing his old tennis shoes for footwear.
Starting Volume 11, Izayoi wore a plain black shirt, khaki trousers and brown boots, after his outfit is ruined during his fight with Azi Dakaha. On the cover art of Volume 11, Izayoi is also seen with the nekomimi headphones Yo summoned back in the Underwood arc with the intention to give to Izayoi as a replacement for his destroyed ones, but never had the chance to.
Volume 12 has Izayoi return to his previous appearance, though during a Gift game he wore miner's equipment.
Personality[]
Izayoi is a very unpredictable (quoted from himself) young man who likes to use his clever mind and impressive strength to solve everything and appreciates a good fight. He easily described himself as vulgar, savage and a hopeless hedonist, which makes sense as he can be fairly perverted as seen by his comments with Black Rabbit, making jokes about her body and wanting to claim her virginity. Be it a Gift Game or a simple cooking contest, such as in the side story, Lily's Big Adventure, he only participates in things that are deemed interesting to him. He enjoys challenges and will even participate in a Game with a handicap so long as it makes the Game more enjoyable.
Despite his outer appearance and frivolous personality, Izayoi is surprisingly highly intelligent, having solved the riddles to all the Gift Games presented in both the Anime and Light Novels and showing an in-depth knowledge about a myriad of subjects, ranging from mythologies, scientific concepts to architectures. He mostly spends his time in a library reading when there are no Gift games going on, showing his studious (bookworm-ish?) nature. He is also shown to be a forgiving person so long as the guilty party is conscious of what they have done and show guilt while being forthright about it. Though, this might just be attributed to his hedonism and his lack of interest in anything not interesting. Though even Izayoi is shown to be a rather sore loser, as shown when Izayoi and Black Rabbit's Gift Game ended in a draw. Izayoi's dislike of losing is also shown in the cooking contest that he lost to Yo. While he did acknowledge her as being the better of the two, the young man began to practice with a recipe he learned and continued to do so until he could challenge her again as he could not stand being second best to Yo.
Izayoi's arrogance does not falter but he knows when to back down in a fight, as shown in Episode 2 where he conceded defeat to Shiroyasha, showing his confidence is not just arrogance. One of his more surprising traits is his loyalty and care for the Community. At first apparently joining for the fun of it, he showed a caring nature for the people within the group and constantly makes plans to improve both the group and its reputation. During the Alliance Flag arc, when he saw Black Rabbit heavily injured by the hands of His Highness, he flew into a degree of rage that not even his friends have seen before, abandoning all his self-restraints and forcing all his friends to retreat from the area since they would have been caught in the fight as well.
In the end, Izayoi is the type to follow his own rules and morals, which includes such lines as "Trample both the strong and the weak." Following this, he is merciless to whomever his opponent is, whether it be a god, comrade, or Demon Lord. His constant search for enjoyment is seen as problem-causing, but the charisma he wields is enough to draw people to him to follow. He will not forgive anyone who goes against what he believes; during the Alliance Flag arc, when he heard of the details about the Kamikakushi cases happening in Kouen City from Mandra and especially how the criminal only targets young children, he immediately decided to voluntarily assist in the capture of said criminal as one of his morals is "A strong power should be used only against a strong opponent." However, because he knows how different his abilities are from the others, he feels that he has no one to depend on and thus often taking on all the burdens himself.
His only rule and main goal in Little Garden is "to have fun."
Background[]
Before the events of the story, Izayoi was placed in a foster home. He was often adopted but found himself back at the homes due to him being too much for the parents to handle. The orphanages eventually got sick of that, and started to dump him from one orphanage to another. Eventually, he grew sick of the way he was treated and while used by several people, he managed to get back at them by swindling them out of a decent amount of money. Using this money, he decided to host a game. The goal of the game was to find him; basically hide and seek. He would give prize money if someone found him before the time limit. If they failed to find him, he would probably go on a rampage because the world was too boring. He played these games to find someone on his level.
Canaria found him three minutes before the time limit and made him admit defeat. Canaria proposed another game. If she won, he would be her son. If he won, she would play with him for the rest of her life and provide a wonderful place for him. With this, they both went around the world for two years. During this time, he learned many things and became an expert on mythology.
During their time at the Iguza Falls, Izayoi is heavily disappointed when he learned the 'Demon of Iguza' did not exist. Canaria decided to take him to a nearby village to show him how people lived there, and to a nearby dam, teaching him about the modern world's alchemy. Izayoi, filled with excitement, decided to destroy half the dam with a punch, causing both him and Canaria to flee the country.
They traveled around the world until Canaria made an orphan institution to help children like Izayoi.
When Canaria became ill Izayoi decided to fulfill one of her wishes, which was to attend high school.
A year after Canaria's death, he received a letter from the sky, and a call from the CANARIA Welfare Organization saying there is a will left to him. Arriving at the foster home a few days later, he reunited with Suzuka and Homura, the latter being responsible for the creation of his headphones.
Later, he met with the lawyer who presented Canaria's will to him. After reading through it, he is shocked upon learning that Canaria predicted the time of which Izayoi would read it and had offered a new game: If Izayoi couldn't find her in the specific time, she would then spirit away everyone in the center. Izayoi solved the clue and confronted the 'Lawyer' responsible for the disappearances.
The Lawyer introduced himself as Baron La Croix, a Lao (the word for god in Haiti language) who rules over Death aka Death god. He challenged Izayoi in a world that exists between Life and Death, fighting him to get Izayoi to be truthful to himself. To further this, he began collapsing the area around them, giving Izayoi the pressure of releasing his power to their fullest potential or die, losing the game and all the children at the foster home.
Izayoi manages to draw out a bit of his true power and annihilate the miniature world around him. He awakens to find that everyone has been returned and that Canaria knew he would defeat Baron. She tells him the moment he opens that letter attached to her will, he would be summoned into a world where the battle that he just fought was an everyday occurrence. As such he is given two options; remain in his world and live a carefree life, or head into the battle in the new world by himself. After some thought he chose to open the letter.
Part 1 - Mondaiji-tachi[]
Volume 1[]
After receiving a letter, Izayoi arrives in Little Garden alongside Kudou Asuka and Kasukabe Yō. His personality caused him to have a mild conflict with theirs.
Being the first to notice Black Rabbit's presence, he was similarly impressed by the fact that another girl, Yō, was able to detect her as well. Izayoi took the initiative to charge forth and dragged the fellow out of her hiding place. However, he was awed by his find, taking an interest in her appearance (rabbit ears). The rabbit introduces herself as Black Rabbit and Izayoi is told about the workings of the world, Little Garden and the Gift Games. Black Rabbit challenges Izayoi to a trial Gift Game which he won easily.
Izayoi traveled to the Edge of the World, Tritonis Falls and challenged a Water God to a Gift Game and receives a Water tree sapling as his Gift for winning the Game. Izayoi chooses then to confront Black rabbit for the truth as to why they were summoned, easily deducing that the community was in trouble. However, Izayoi still agrees to join the No Name and to aid them in the reclaiming of their lost name and banner (though it was only because he was interested in Black Rabbit, who was a caliber above the rest of the Community, that he joined and to find the reason why she is still holding onto the community and not changing it's name and banner into a new one).
Shortly after, Izayoi learns about the Gift Game Asuka and Yō will be participating in against Fores Garo and refuses to help, saying they are the ones who joined and will be the ones to participate. That night, he finds several of Fores Garo's members snooping around the [No Name] territory in hope of kidnapping the children of the communtiy and stops them. He declines to defeat Galdo, but promotes Jin to be the symbol of the Community that had no name. He did this so that the community had something to symbolize them and to make the declaration to fight against all Demon Lords to spread word of their Community for their lost members to have a lead on them. Later in the night, Jin confronts him about his action and Izayoi explains himself. He then learnt about how a former Demon Lord used to be a member of the core group of [No Name] and promises Jin to help regain that comrade if he wins the Gift Game tomorrow.
The next day he and Black Rabbit were forced to wait on the outside of the game grounds. Izayoi asked if they could take a peak, but Black Rabbit clarified that since the Geass Roll did not give the permission to witness the game, they would not be able to do so. Consequently, Izayoi called her useless for not having the authority even as a Judge Master. Once Galdo is defeated, the forest disappears and they are allowed to enter, where they then find a critically injured Yō being cared for by Jin. While Black Rabbit took Yō back to the [No-Name]'s base to be healed, Izayoi and Jin went to speak with the communities forced into service by Fores Garo, where Jin returns their names and banners. Izayoi also takes the opportunity to tell the other communities about the No-Names' plan to defeat the Demon Lords, asking them all to remember Jin Russel's name.
Later that night, Izayoi was assaulted by a mysterious girl who revealed herself to be Leticia Draculair, the former demon lord whom Jin wanted him to win as she is offered as a prize in a Gift Game. He learns that the reason, for her assault and the assistance she had given to Galdo Gasper in the Gift Game, was to test the abilities of the children summoned to Little Garden. Izayoi learns that the gift game was cancelled and took Leticia on her offer to test his abilities. He manages to surprise the vampire and the game is interrupted by Black Rabbit, who reveals that all of Leticia's Divinity is gone and all she had left was her "Lord of Vampire" Gift.
Leticia was re-captured by [Perseus] through the power of the Gorgon's Eye, and Izayoi had to stop an angry Black Rabbit from assaulting the community. He suggests going after the boss of the group, and ends up joining Black Rabbit and Asuka at the [Thousand Eyes] shop to discuss with Laius. During the negotiation, the trio of Shiroyasha, Asuka and him decided to make jabs at the moon rabbit just for fun. The negotiation fails and Izayoi repels the attack directed at Asuka for Laius was provoked into action..
Shortly afterwards, he talks with Shiroyasha and learns about the Gift Game that grants a community the right to challenge Perseus. Clearing the prerequisite Gift Games in a solo mission, he delivers the gifts that would proof the right to challenge to Black Rabbit, allowing her to issue the challenge to [Perseus].
Before the game began, Izayoi assigned roles and a strategy for the participating members to fulfill. He, along with Yō, succeeded in taking the Helmet of Hades and a copy of it. Giving the copy to Jin the two left Kasubae with the remaining guards. Arriving at the Colosseum, Izayoi decided to use the copy helmet he had to prank Black Rabbit. Laius announced himself to the group, and challenged the [No Name]s by releasing the seal on the fallen Demon Lord Algol.
A certain normal day in Little Garden (Short Story)[]
Izayoi, Asuka and Yō were told of a certain bird that preys upon animals and brings forth a drought. Black Rabbit wanted to use the opportunity of the bird's sudden appearance to utilize the power of the water tree and offer water to the other communities as a sort of trade. However the Problem children ended up defeating the Batsu before the plan could be put into motion. As such they decided to give the Batsu corpse to [Thousand Eyes] to trade for food and money. The Shopkeeper blocked the path in, refusing to take the [No Name]s as customers due to their social standing. Izayoi followed up on Black Rabbit's attempts at getting the shopkeeper to let them in, mentioning how they took down the Divine Beast that was giving trouble to the other communities out of the goodness of their hearts. The Shopkeeper realized the advantage of having the Batsu and allowed them a special one time entrance. Black Rabbit praised Izayoi for his assist, with Izayoi shrugging it off while mentioning that it wasn't a lie.
The [No Name]s sold the corpse of the Batsu for money and food and returned home to deliver the news. When it was mentioned that Japanese cuisine would be the dinner for the night, Izayoi ordered Takenoko Gohan.
A few hours later it was revealed that Izayoi's assist was in fact the truth. Izayoi, Asuka and Yo had attacked and defeated the KanBatsu because if they didn't then it would have killed a Unicorn. The Unicorn was part of the [Draco Grief] Alliance community's [One Horn], and to repay the kindness decided to give the [No Name]s the rare Gift [Unicorn Horn], which would allow the healing of any type of wound.
The next day Izayoi, Asuka and Yō were to attend a Gift game against the [Yaoyorozu no Kami] community. Izayoi expressed his admiration for the world he was called in, and began to look forward to the gift game after hearing they were as large a community as [Thousand Eyes].
Volume 2[]
Upon receiving the letter, Asuka located Izayoi in the library and he decided to get back at Black Rabbit for keeping secrets. Hence, together with Yō and Asuka, they left a letter challenging Black Rabbit to find them or they would leave the Community for real. After deciding to head to Thousand Eyes to get Shiroyasha to take them to the Northern Side of Little Garden, Izayoi is given a detailed reason as to what Floor Master's are and why it was requested that the [No Name]s participate in the festival. Afterwards the group was teleported to the north side in the [Salamandra] Community.
Once they arrived Izayoi, Asuka and Yo were attacked by Black Rabbit. Izayoi grabbed Asuka and ran from the Moon Rabbit, arriving in a shopping district where they lost her. Izayoi then accompanied Asuka as they explored the district and came upon a tektite glass statue of [Salamandra]'s first leader made by Sala Doltrake. Izayoi showed his knowledge in various subjects by describing the material the statue was made out of to Asuka. After learning of Asuka's past and her fascination with Halloween, he decided to plan their own Halloween with her by finding Gifts that could increase the fertility of the farm land. Black Rabbit found them initiating a chase between her and Izayoi as Asuka was caught by Leticia.
Izayoi then challenged Black Rabbit to a game of tag, where the winner would be able to command the other to do one thing. The game ended in a draw, much to his chagrin. Their game however garnered the attention of the [Salamandra] military police and were taken to the main base. They were immeidatly chatised for their actionsby Mandora Doltrake, but the new Floor Master Sandora Doltrake forgave them since Shiroyasha said she would cover the damages of the game. Shortly after Sandora greeted Jin and Lily, revealing that [Salamandra] was once an ally of the old [No Names], Mandora attacked them leading to Izayoi to step in and block the attack.
Getting them to back off, Shiroyasha revealed to those remaining that a member of Thousand Eyes had recorded a prophecy where a Demon Lord would attack during the festival which was the reason she had brought the [No Names] with her. Izayoi predicted some were displeased with the new Floor Master being a child and expects that some expect Sandora to fall. Agreeing to protect the town with the others, Izayoi agrees to waiting to fight until then, but asks if Shiroyasha would be displeased if he so happened to take out the Demon Lord before she could act.
At the inn, Izayoi took part in teasing the girls after their bath before attending the meeting to discuss the next day's Gift Game. Once the participating community's names were revealed, Izayoi remarked about the name Rattenfanger being related to the Pied Piper of Hamlin, and when inquired about it, had Jin answer for him. Once the meeting was adjourned Izayoi and the others headed off to bed.
The next day Izayoi and the others are given access to watch the match from the box seats alongside Sandora, Mandora and Shiroyasha. Sitting beside the small Demon Lord, Izayoi and Shiroyasha discuss the Gift placed on Black Rabbit's miniskirt and how not being able to see up her skirt can be considered an 'art', much to the chargin of everyone nearby. With the appearance of Ayesha Ignnus Fautus from the [Will-o-Wisp] community, Asuka excitedly points out Jack-o-Lantern to Izayoi. Watching the game, Izayoi noted that Yō doesn't possess the power to defeat an immortal foe like Jack.
Shortly after the game, Izayoi notices the black Geass Rolls and takes one in hand, reading the contents. Izayoi is blown off of the balcony during Shiroyasha's sealing, as per the rules of the game, though catches Asuka and lands safely on the ground. Once he does he sees the attacking demons in the distance and tells Jin to help the people in the area. Izayoi jumps towards the attackers and catches Wesser off guard. After dragging him up the wall Izayoi is trapped by Wesser's power, but shows no sign of worry as he began to explain the riddle regarding the Geass Roll. His response inpresses the demon but Wesser makes the correction about him being the demon lord, explaining to Izayoi he was a low level demon. Eager to fight, Izayoi launches himself at the demon. Later Izayoi heard the flute of Rattenfanger.
Before a winner could be decided, the game was cancelled by Black Rabbit's [Judge Master], forcing both sides main players to attend a meeting to negotiate the game. Izayoi joined as a representative for the [No Names] alongside Jin. Izayoi then asked Mandora about how the game would be handled. The Little Garden Central Network confrimed there was no misconduct within the game, allowing one of the demons to ask about the game being pushed back a month. Izayoi and Jin spoke up in refusal, Jin then explaining whom the demom, Black Percher was. Pest then went on to threaten the safety of the communities that were exposed to her patheogen, in which case Izayoi negotiates the recurrence of the Gift Game on an earlier set date, even adding Black Rabbit to the participant and prize list. Pest agrees following Jin's words and the game resumes in seven days.
During the period Izayoi had watched over the sick Yo while also studying up on the Pied Pier of Hamlin tale. He began to exlain to her the Parallel World Intersection theory Black Rabbit spoke of when they arrived and how it ties to the Gift Game and the tale. He deduced that the key to winning the game is by looking at the stained glass panels reciting the tale, and the reason Shiroyasha was sealed was because of the sun entering a cool period during the Black Plague. Izayoi thanked Yo for helping him solve the riddle, concluding that the group is from the Grimm's fairy tale and not the real Hamlin event.
When the game resumes Izayoi initially joined the town to destroy the panels but then the town of Halmin was summoned, replacing the city as a whole. Izayoi ends up being attacked by Wesser, who wasgranted [Divinity] and thus able to harm Izayoi. Their fight continued until Izayoi revealed Wesser to be the real Pied Piper of Hamlin, the true cause of the death of the children. Wesser, suprised by the boy's sharpness, invited IZayoi to join his community. Izayoi declined, saying he had a goal to work towards. He goaded Wesser intousing his most powerful move, the explosion leaving Izayoi's arm broken and Wesser's weapon destroyed. With the item used to summon him gone, Weser was unable to continue fighting and faded away, leaving Izayoi victorious.
Izayoi raced over to the battle with Pest and saved Black Rabbit from Pest's attack. He continued to fight until Black Rabbit activated her gift of [Chandral Mahal] to transport everyone to the moon. Izayoi mentioned the loss of Pest's power since she was away from the Grimoire she activated, he participated in a combined effort to defeat her and watched as the Spear of Indra thrown by Deen killed the Demon Lord.
Returning to the North Side, Izayoi confronted Mandora in his office and confessed to knowing about [Salamandra] staging the entire event, including the Demon Lord attack to show off Sandora's worth. While he did threaten to destroy the community and Sandora included if his friends were killed, Izayoi lets Mandora go once the man refealed the entire community but Sandora knew of the plan and offered his life so long as his comrades were spared. Izayoi let him off on the condition [Salamandra] come to help them when needed.
At the [No Names] farmland, Izayoi learned the fairy Merun could not revive the soil, and so offered a solution of using fertilizer to help revive the land. After learning she could, he ends up watching the [No Names] work together on the land.
Finding the answer to the Golden Plate Mystery (Short Story)[]
Izayoi was found reading in a small shack by Yo. Asuka was sleeping on his lap, and Yo asked why. Izayoi explained that he intended to tease Asuka once she woke up and so placed Asuka's head on his lap. Yo found the idea to be interesting and decided she wanted to see Asuka's expression and so laid her head on Izayoi's other leg. Izayoi remarked how it felt to have a lion or leopard sleeping next to him, but he allowed her to and returned to reading. An hour later Black Rabbit came in with a golden plate, and Izayoi decided to throw two apples at Black Rabbit's forehead. Izayoi took notice of the golden saucer once Black Rabbit dropped it and was shocked to know the saucers were distributed by <RaimundusLullus>, the philosopher who discovered the secret to creating gold through alchemy.
Izayoi was skeptical about the validity of the Gift game, but Black Rabbit assured that [Thousand Eyes] were the ones who issued the game, thus making it legal. After hearing Black Rabbit's plan to restore the residential area with the funds from the game, Izayoi decided to participate but was not enthusiastic about it. At that moment the [No Name]s were attacked by a rival community also participating in the game. Sensing the eight participants that attacked them, Izayoi took action and easily defeated them. Upon taking the golden saucer of the enemies, the gold saucer corroded to dust within his hands.
Izayoi interrogated the criminals about the plate they possessed, and learned that theirs had the Latin alphabet that categorized what it was. The werebeasts explained that the game could only be completed through the minigames. This little info caused Izayoi to agree that the werebeasts, to pay off their debt for breaking the rules, should work on the residential area for a year instead of a week. While everyone agreed to participate, Izayoi suggested that they each split up and try to collect as many plates as possible, with the winner being given the Gift to command Black Rabbit to be a maid for the winner. With that condition set the group set off to participate in the event.
Izayoi decided to head to the Six Scars cafe and learned about a silver haired warrior who was defeating everyone that challenged her in a battle.
Volume 3[]
Because of the [No Names] participation in defeating the Demon Lord, they received a VIP invitation to the Underwood Harvest Festival. Izayoi and the others were excited to join, but due to the length of the festival, it was decided by Jin that one of them had to stay behind and switch places with another during the festival, meaning only one would be able to enjoy the festival to its fullest. To decide who would go, Izayoi made the suggestion of a competition where they participate in as many gift games and win prizes that would help out the community. The one who produced the most results and possibility to get more prizes during the Harvest Festival would get to stay the longest. The plan was easily accepted by the others.
However, due to Izayoi's exploits and rumors of his power, he was not able to participate in many Gift Games as no one would invite someone who was sure to win the game. This forced him to turn to Shiroyasha for assistance. A few days later, Izayoi challenged the Water God that he defeated before, on advice from Shiroyasha, to a gift game. During the game he learns the water god is actually a goddess, Shirayuki-hime. Although the game was difficult for him to solve at first, he manged to solve the riddle of making the Aqua Fran bloom and won the game. By doing so, he won Shirayuki-hime's servitude and was forced to becoming the second maid of the No Names.
Shortly afterwards Izayoi returns to the community grounds to find Asuka destroying the ruins with Deen. After chiding her they made their way to the community grounds, picking up You and Lily along the way. Izayoi learned about the exploits of Asuka and You, and decided to bring everyone to [Thousand Eyes] to show off his results. After a quick banter with the Shopkeeper, Izayoi entered to see Black Rabbit and Shirayuki-hime attacking Shiroyasha. Afterwards, the group settled down and began discussing why Izayoi challenged Shirayuki-hime.
By winning ownership of her Izayoi was able to loan her to Shiroyasha, who had plans on developing the Eastern Lower Floors, but to do that she needed a water source. Izayoi challenged Shirayuki-hime to obtain that source so that it wouldn't appear that Shiroyasha was showing favoritism, and in exchange earned a [Consession Grant]. As such Izayoi won the chance to stay at the Harvest Festival for the entire time. After the party Izayoi joined Lily and Leticia in the bath. After washing Lily's hair and ears, he conversed with Leticia regarding the origin of her last name, vampire heritage and dragons. After the bath Izayoi checked his basket to find his headphones had disappeared.
Izayoi allows You to take his place at the [Underwood] Harvest Festival, opting to find his headphones. Later at the farmlands he spoke with Lily and learns about her ancestry and how her mother was taken. Izayoi decided to appeal to Lily's God to find out where her mother was after the Harvest Festival. Leticia continued to express interest in Izayoi's past and he obliged to her curiosity. Afterwards Izayoi ends up hearing about the attack on [Underwood] and heads there with Leticia. He talks with Black Rabbit and remarks on the beauty of [Underwood], the culprit who took his headphones, and how he plans on making the No Name Community so big that the old members will even hear about it.
Black Rabbit talks to Izayoi and hopes to introduce him to her benefactor. Izayoi remarks about the stars in the Altair losing their brightness. Izayoi soon discovered that the harp had something to do with the mysterious song. Soon after this a dragon appeared. He witnesses Leticia being kidnapped and heard her last words on how to clear the newly reinstated Gift Game before vanishing, "Defeat the thirteenth sun."
Volume 4[]
Izayoi attacks the Giants the minute they reappear and manages to push them back with ease. He manages to lift the spirits of the [Draco Grief] alliance and push them to keep attacking. The game was place on hold, but the dragon flapped its wings and lifted to the sky, carrying people along with it. Izayoi, Asuka and Black Rabbit discovered that You was at the castle in the sky after she went save some kids that were attacked by monsters (influence of the dragon). A meeting was going to be realized to see what to do about the game and Izayoi represented [No Name]s along with Asuka and Jin. During the meeting, Izayoi begins to suspect the creation of a [Demon Lord]s alliance.
Afterwards, Asuka asks him if she could join the search for You, to which he declined. However he decided to test her and see if Asuka could handle herself. Izayoi watched the battle between Pest and Asuka, which ended in the former's favor. When Pest went too far in making fun of Asuka, Izayoi took the opportunity to punish her, by dumping a bucket of water on Asuka, Pest and inadvertently Sala. He scolds Pest for her actions and has both her, Asuka and Sala take a bath with each other. If Asuka and Pest refused, then he would bathe with them.
When the game begins once more Izayoi is at the front lines riding Gry up to reach the castle. Before he leaves Sala gives him the Grass Bracelet so he could communicate with Gry, and a trident to fight with. During the way he is forced to fight against Leticia's Shadow. Originally he had planned to take on the shadow himself, but Gry intervened by rushing Izayoi to the castle, at the cost of the beast's wings. In retaliation Izayoi destroyed Leticia's shadow and helped to patch up Gry's wounds. He goes off to search for the others trapped on the castle and finds You. Carrying her on his back he explains that You was correct about how to solve the Gift Game up until the last portion of it.
Both arrive at Leticia's throne room and learn that not only has the game been solved but the curtains over the Little Garden are opening. Once they open up completely and the sun hits the dragon she will die. Izayoi decides to follow You outside and vows to defeat the dragon to save Leticia. When You summoned the Pegasus Boots, Izayoi was greatly impressed and promised her to show a similar amazing power. Izayoi activates his Gift's full power once more against the Huge Dragon of the Ophiuchus zodiac and strikes its heart.
After the battle Izayoi was speaking with Jin as the shopkeeper of [Thousand Eyes] appeared to ask if the [No Names] wanted any other gift besides owning Leticia completely. Jin declared that he wanted the old land of the [No Names]. This was impossible if you don’t have a flag, but Jin proposed that they were going to have a new flag. They were going to make an alliance.
A Tea Gathering (Short Story)[]
Izayoi was sleeping in the dormitory room when You knocked on his door. He allowed her to enter and she apologized for the loss of his headphones. Izayoi let her go because she was not the one who stole them but respected how she took responsibility for Calico Cat's theft. Once Asuka arrived with tea and snacks, the three problem children sat down and began discussing about themselves and their time periods. Izayoi tells them about the time when he saw the dam near the Igazu falls, but didn't tell them the full story. Afterwards he showed doubt in You being from the future and asked about a popular trend in her time period. You's response of Rabbit Ear headphones caused both him and Asuka to laugh.
Lily's Big Adventure (Short Story)[]
During the clean up from the demon lord gift game Izayoi was found helping the other cook, startling Lily as she found that Izayoi doing chores was unfair. Izayoi understood her culture shock and explained that back on his world it was a normal thing for him to do as he came from a facility that rotated the chores.
Lily told him and several others about the shop she went to, to which Sala, Izayoi and the two other problem children showed interest in going to. After arriving, they find a geass roll depicting a supposedly impossible gift game. They encounter several moving dolls who appeared to be oily buff men, to which the women felt disgusted but he felt interested. The left the shop after being chased after by the dolls.
He then encounters Coppelia, brought by Lily, being chased by a [Last Embryo] [Demon Lord] called End Emptiness. He agrees with Lily to finish the gift game of creating a Perpetual Motion Machine, which he accomplishes using a fragment of Deen.
The demon lord was then banished after having completed the gift game. Later on Izayoi joined a banquet celebration where he showed off his cooking skills to the group and developed on the dish he served earlier. However the strong men dolls attacked once more. Izayoi decided to start a new game to destroy the dolls, throwing a frightened Asuka and You towards them.
Volume 5[]
Izayoi decided to rest in the Library and read while Asuka and You participated in the Gift Games. When Black Rabbit found him and commented on the glasses he wore, he explains that they were bought from Jack to help him read better in the dark. He meets Kouryuu and immediately insults him. Once they introduced themselves Kouryuu offered to ferry both Izayoi and Black Rabbit back to the main desk. Due to a slight hiccup with the boat Izayoi got the chance to enjoy Black Rabbit's body.
Izayoi met up with You while she was eating at the festival stands. He said he was looking for ways to cure Gry's wings. When Black Rabbit mentions a possible way, Izayoi ended up catching one of the Demon of Laplace. The demon was not happy about that and ended up arguing with Izayoi. Black Rabbit split off from Izayoi to attend the opening ceremonies and he ended up finding Lily at one of the food stands. After speaking with her, the Demon of Laplace Izayoi captured that were place in a meat sack all escaped. The problem children gathered together with Lily and end up teasing the Shopkeeper of [Thousand Eyes].
Due to the fight that broke out between You and leader of [Two Wings] Griffith, a meeting was called forth to discuss the matters of the brawl. Izayoi was part of the meeting with Jin, Asuka, You, Black Rabbit, Sala, Griffith, Shiroyasha and Kouryuu, the one who stopped the fight. It was decided that the [No Names] were the ones to instigate the fight and were let off with a waring. Izayoi was not pleased as he felt the verbal abuse was worse and that punishment was in order for the leader of [Two Wings]. Luckily Kouryuu manged to compromise with Izayoi and convinced him to take revenge for the insults towards his comrades. Once the meeting was done the problem children and Black Rabbit immediately began inquiring Kouryuu about his past.
Later, Izayoi visited Gry and ended up speaking with Garol and Carol in the griffon's room. There Izayoi learned that Gry was Griffith's brother and had lost to a duel against him that exiled him from [Underwood]. Their conversation continued as Izayoi asked about You and Asuka's [Gifts]. He was surprised to learn that Asuka's gift was incredibly strong to the point she kept destroying other Gifts through its use and the fact that she was destined to be the savior of Japan after its defeat in WWII.
Before the start of the race Izayoi complements Asuka and You in their swimsuits before declaring that Black Rabbit's was the best. He joined Asuka at the start of the race as part of the plan for him to protect her from any attacks alongside Shirayuki-hime while You went off to fight [Two Wings]. However that plan went astray as Faceless began to use her blades to strip the competition of their swimsuits, Shirayuki being one of them. The water god refused to participate any further and retreated into a gem. As such Izayoi tossed the gem containing the water god when he deemed her presence in the race to be useless.
Izayoi and Asuka managed to find a path to the 'sea above a mountain'. Faceless had already arrived but what shocked them was the arrival of Kouryuu. Izayoi told Asuka to finish the race while he stayed behind to fight the Demon King. Izayoi was happy to find someone who could withstand his attacks, while Kouryuu was shocked at Izayoi's body, comparing his body to Sun Wukong. As they fought Izayoi discovered the reason Kouryuu was participating in the Gift Game and told him to "wash his awful face" before going to visit his sister. The battle ended in a draw as neither fought at full strength, with Izayoi's true power being a one hit kill and Kouryuu wanted to fight Izayoi on a proper stage with himself as the Host Master.
After the Gift Game and the victory of the No Names, the problem children gave Black Rabbit a gift as thanks for everything she did for them.
Kuro Usagi's Tea Party with the Outlanders (Short Story)[]
Volume 6[]
The No Names were summoned to take part for the second [Duel of the Creators] Gift Game that would take place at the [Salamandra] community as well as discussing the alliance with Jack and a possible fourth community that would join. However when they arrived the three problem children vanished. Izayoi, Asuka and You were found sitting atop the large chandelier that belonged to the [Salamandra] community, much to the dismay and horror of Mandora and Jin. Izayoi and Asuka planned to meet up with Jack regarding the last member of the alliance and to obtain Asuka's new gifts while You declared she would take revenge at the Gift Game for her previous defeat. After they ate Black Rabbit found the three children and scolded them.
Izayoi, Asuka, Black Rabbit and Jack traveled to the atelier with Jack to meet the final community and retrieve Asuka's new gifts. During the way they talked about [Divinity] and how it can be used to reinforce objects depending on the power and the Gift. However Izayoi overheard a conversation about a kamikakushi (a sort of spiriting away). While it wasn't uncommon in the area Izayoi thought that it was specific enough to turn into confusion. As such he went to investigate it. Arriving at the scene of the last spiriting away he spoke with Mandra and learned of two clues; that a Chinese character was always present at the kidnapping and the victims were all children. Izayoi became upset to the point of anger as he believed that a "strong power should only be used against a strong opponent."
Izayoi caught sight of a strange guy wearing a cloak with the same Chinese character from the crime scene on it. The fact that Izayoi could see him puzzled the robed guy, so he used his power against Izayoi. It did not work and only helped Izayoi to further deduce how the robed guy used his powers. Izayoi oust the Demon Lord of Confusion and chased him down as he tried to escape. However Izayoi lost him just as Demon Lord of Confusion activated his [Host Master] authority. A steam of water attacked Izayoi and causes him to lose sight of the demon lord. Izayoi decided to meet up with Mandra and both decide to go search for Sandora, the first stop being the Colosseum.
Izayoi confirmed with Mandora that 'Koumei' was related to You, and began to doubt that the three of them were summoned by random. Mandora suggested that "Queen Halloween" might know something, but before he could elaborate any further, a sound caught their attention. Izayoi had an uneasy feeling and rushed to the Colosseum. Once he arrived, it took him a while to assert the situation. However once he did, Izayoi asked Jin if the white haired boy was responsible for You and Black Rabbit being injured. When Jin confirmed it, Izayoi snapped and began attacking Highness, his punches completely shattering the Colosseum. In the end Highness was saved by his companions, and revealed the existence of the Demon Lord Alliance Ouroboros, something that was foreshadowed in volume 4. When Highness departed, Izayoi knew that he would one day fight to the death with him.
Izayoi, Asuka and You were dissatisfied with how Jin and Pest were treated and began to verbally attack Mandra. However the conversation shifted to the talk about the Demon Lord Allaince. Izayoi recalled their symbol being the Ouroborus but felt something was off. The conversation was cut as Jack arrived and told everyone something happened with Black Rabbit. The problem childred rushed to her room, only to learn that her rabbit ears were gone.
Volume 7[]
The Problem Children were with Willa discussing the reasons for her coming to Little Garden. As Yō was fighting soldiers, Izayoi made comments regarding Maxwell's devotion to Willa. Then some minor community members approached and attacked Izayoi. As expected Izayoi easily defeated them with a single punch. With this Izayoi managed to convince several other communities to listen to him and accept his plans, outright telling them that HE was the only person who could fight the leader of the Demon Lord Alliance. Izayoi even bowed his head to them as a sign of respect, to which they begrudgingly accepted. When Willa explained how Koumei managed to defeat Maxwell, Izayoi pointed to the ones who would challenge the Demon Lord, Asuka and Yō.
Izayoi went to visit Black Rabbit and found her injuring herself due to lack of restraint. As such he accompanied her back to a chair and began to notice her hair grew darker. The two talked about the moon rabbits and the plan regarding the soon to be war, all while Izayoi was braiding her hair. Black Rabbit mentioned Canaria and compared Izayoi to her, or rather compared their souls. Then, Highness appeared and Izayoi immediately protected Black Rabbit. When Highness inquired about Canaria, Izayoi told Black Rabbit to leave and let him fight as she would be in the way. Highness activated a part of the Origin Candidate's power, using the Book of Invasions from volume 4 to start the Gift Game [Tain Bo Cualinge]. With this the Giants from Volume 4 appeared, each with a gift that prevents them from dying due to Black Death. Izayoi made Black Rabbit leave the room. The two players talked for a bit and each came to the same realization; just as Izayoi could be the only one to defeat Highness, Highness was the only one who could defeat Izayoi. With this the two began their fight and over half of the eigth temple was destroyed.
Izayoi and Highness fought hand to hand with the former slowly getting the upper hand. Both end up beneath the capital and land in the rivers, the cold water forcing them both to awaken from a dreary mind. Even though Izayoi previously had three chances to defeat Highness he didn't because of a bad feeling of something beneath the capital. And Izayoi knew if he used his full power then whatever was underneath them would be able to finish them, so held back in the fight. During this time Highness realized a fatal flaw in Izayoi; that he shoulders everything and protects his friends to the point that Izayoi doesn't trust his comrades. Izayoi continues to fight Highness, the both of them having destroyed 77 areas. When Highness revealed he was only born three years prior Izayoi was shocked. In that moment Izayoi decided to defeat Highness with everything he has. Suddenly an earthquake occurred, one that caused Highness to tell Izayoi to quit the game as the seal was undone.
Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions stopped the battles completely, everyone feeling a chill of death run down their backs. Izayoi hurried to find his comrades, but found Black Rabbit about to be attacked by the three headed dragon. He managed to push her out of the way but ended up taking the attack himself. Izayoi punched the dragon, but the blow only caused his arm to shatter instead. After ensuring Almathea took Black Rabbit and ran away with her, Izayoi asked for the identity of the dragon. The dragon was one of the deities that were 3 Digit in Zoroastrian, [Absolute Evil], the Demon Lord Azi Dakaha, the personification of an antagonist.
Volume 8[]
Due to his injuries Izayoi struggled against Azi Dakaha. He realized he was punching a monster with the mass of a continent and instead of injuring him, his blows ended up hurting himself. Izayoi was at a loss on how to fight the being he deemed to be the "Strongest Species". When the dragon created two other dragons from his blood and ordered them to chase after Asuka, Black Rabbit and Almathea, Izayoi immediately attacked Azi Dakaha with the intent of defeating him. Izayoi learned that the dragon's mass was not that of what his form was, but the mass of a world. Even so he forced himself to attack the dragon, his body breaking down with each and every hit he sent towards the demon lord. Izayoi, for the first time, felt anger and humiliation as he continued to assault the dragon, none of his attacks working. Izayoi managed to disrupt Azi Dakaha's center of gravity and jumped, preparing to use his Aurora Pillar to finish it off. However, at that moment Azi Dakaha activated his own gift. The two powers collided, destroying both the volcano and the surrounding area.
Izayoi barely survived, his body in a state where he couldn't even more nor feel pain. He released a laugh of self-amazement at his own body and that of Azi Dakaha whom had also survived the blast. Izayoi, realizing he was about to die, challenged the Demon Lord to tell him the reason behind his actions, the reason for why Azi Dakaha carries the flag of "Evil". Azi Dakaha gave his reason as because if he did not become evil then there would be no hero to triumph over him. He became evil to lay down the foundations of the duality between good and evil. The dragon challenged Izayoi one last time to fight, and Izayoi could only comply.
Despite the feeling of true defeat inside himself, Izayoi ran towards Azi Dakaha with the sole intention of fighting him with everything he had, siting Azi Dakaha as the devil.
Volume 10[]
Izayoi continues his fight against Azi Dahaka, though his wounds begin to wear him out. Before Azi Dahaka could attack Izayoi again, Jack, Kouryuu and Karyou come to assist Izayoi. Izayoi berates them for their lateness before he passes out from the blood loss. Izayoi is taken to the floating Vampire Castle where he is tended to by Lily, Shirayuki and the other children of [No Name]s. There he reunites with Baron la Croix and asks the shinigami about why he was summoned to Little Garden. He theorized that there was just more to it than being called to restore the No Name community as Asuka and Yo's power alone could do it. As such he suspected he was summoned for something else. Baron promised Izayoi he would tell him everything after the battle with Azi Dahaka.

Code: Unknown - Not much is known about his ability as the Gift Card, a fragment of Laplace, could not categorize his ability and so named it [Code: Unknown]. Despite this, he seems to know his power well, being able to gauge whether or not he can take an opponent. He can defeat those blessed with [Divinity] such as a water god and Weser, deflect a lance attack from the weakened Leticia, stop a sword attack from Laius, who is a descendant of the hero Perseus, with one finger and defeat the Kraken and Graea sisters, monsters that appeared in the legend of Perseus, with ease. Many people who have seen him fight have realized that his power is capable of destroying gifts. Black Rabbit also stated that his gift has the power to destroy heaven and earth, and later with a statement by Baron that it could even destroy the stars. This is shown during his battle with Algol and Black Percher, where he easily deflected their attacks. The force he emits behind his strength and speed is described in the Light Novels to be of the Third Cosmic Velocity or even faster than that.
Canaria stated that if his gift were to be given a name, it would be [Last Future of Embryo]. It is revealed that the gift Izayoi possesses is the Third Perpetual Motion Machine in the form of nano machines sealed inside his body.
- Supernatural Strength: This seems to be the main function of Izayoi's Gift as it grants him immense strength. He uses his strength to throw objects at the 'Third Cosmic Velocity', run on walls by digging his feet into them, and even compress Leticia's lance into a ball by simply punching it. Back when Izayoi fought Baron La Croix before he got summoned to Little Garden, Izayoi could lift the entire building and throw it at him with no effort. In Volume 4, Izayoi easily defeated an army of Celtic Titan. Izayoi also could keep up with Saurian Demon King in Volume 5, as both of them neatly matched against each other though it was quite difficult for Izayoi because at that time he still didn't have martial art skills. When Izayoi knew His Highness was the one that injured Black Rabbit, in anger he beated him so violently that His Highness couldn't protect himself for a moment before his company came to save him. In Volume 7 both Izayoi and His Highness got a re-match at the Kouen City, His Highness admitted that Izayoi were stronger than him even though that Izayoi didn't feel any different from the powers of their fists. The punches of Izayoi were strong enough to destroy mountains and rivers, split the oceans or seas, on par with planetary crustal movement and even shake the stars. As seen in Volume 8 when he thrown hundred of punches which could shake stars on Azi Dahaka at the Third Cosmic Velocity, thus overwhelmed him for a short amount of time before he put up his Aurora Pillar.
- Enhanced Perception: Izayoi possesses an exceptional sixth sense, easily signaled out Fores Garo's henchman in Episode 3 and Leticia's presence when she was hiding outside the window in Episode 4.
- Supernatural Speed: His speed is said to be on par with Black Rabbit, who is mentioned to be part of the fastest species in Little Garden. However, his speed is different from hers as he is able to retain that speed as shown when he blocked an attack meant for Black Rabbit, returned her safely to a rooftop and proceeded to return to fight Black Percher. He was fast enough to leaves his afterimages, as seen in volume 5 when battling the Saurian Demon King and in volume 6, when chasing the Demon King of Confusion at Kouen City. If Izayoi were to put his full strength behind his every step, the residential structures that weren’t stable enough would most likely be blown away.
- Supernatural Durability: Izayoi has been shown to be rather durable, being the only one out of the three problem children to not need a Gift of Protection to survive his fights and take on powerful attacks without being injured. It took Weser with double his power and possessing [Divinity] to only injure Izayoi and even then the injury did not even slow Izayoi down. However, his durability isn`t invincibile, he's shown to be rather weak against bladed weapons wielded by a strong enough individual, and he suffered quite a bit during his fight against Saurian Demon King. In his battle with Azi Dakaha, Izayoi was stabbed through his abdomen and had his organs punctured. It should be noticed that when Izayoi's Aurora Pillar made contact with Azi Dahaka's [Avesta], he barely survived the force of impact, though Azi Dahaka later explained that their powers canceled each other out so that Izayoi could survive the blast. After his fight against Azi Dahaka, all the bones and the muscles in his body were minced.
- Supernatural Stamina: During the fight with Azi Dahaka, although Izayoi received a lot of injuries and therefore his stamina almost ran out after the fight with His Highness, he was still able to fight with every bone and muscle in his body almost completely chopped up and crushed. Izayoi was the first one that held back Azi Dahaka for the others to run away even though he was already on the verge of his death.
- Supernatural resistance: Based on his ability that allow him to negate and destroy Gifts, Izayoi has resistance to supernatural powers. Several examples include when Izayoi was totally immune to Ratten's mind control music in volume 2, Baron placed a Death Curse on Izayoi but it never took hold on him in volume 3, and when Demon King of Confusion stopped time in all of Kouen City and its residents, but Izayoi was completely unaffected in volume 6.
- Aurora Pillar (fanmade name) - A power that revolves around creating a light construct in the shape of a small pillar which then enlarges to the point of reaching skyward, he then swings it at his enemy. This is the true manifestation of Izayoi's power to destroy Gifts. Its power could defeat Divine Spirits, eliminate all of the stars in the night sky and annihilate everything in the material world. He has used it for four times: to destroy the pocket dimension Baron La Croix created, to destroy the huge dragon's heart, in his fight against Azi Dakaha - when the Aurora Pillar made contact with the [Avesta] created a vortex with power comparable to the collison between stars that could destroy All Creation and their clash reduced more than half of a volcano peak to nothing more than subatomic particles, the force unleashed from Aurora Pillar capable of absorbing the light of the stars and pierce through the veil of Little Garden, and finally in Volume 11 with the help from Baron La Croix, he erased Maxwell Demon Lord by his Aurora Pillar with only one shot. His Highness described it as a "Another Cosmology", the secret techniques of the pantheons of Gods to construct their own worlds - universes. Izayoi also made a compliment by himself that his Aurora Pillar is shape of a possessing cosmology of humanity. It has been hinted from Volume 2 when Izayoi managed to unleash his full power against Black Percher after she mocked Izayoi that he didn't have enough strength to destroy stars but Black Rabbit stopped him due to the plan and in Volume 5, during the fight between him and Saurian Demon King that if Izayoi used this trumpcard, he would not be able to control it enough to let Saurian survive the hit, it also should be noted that when Izayoi put up his Aurora Pillar even Azi Dahaka got shocked after saw it and he had to activated his [Avesta] to counter him, making the Aurora Pillar is extremely powerful and very dangerous even for the strong Demon Lords. Only the like of His Highness or Azi Dahaka in which they also possessed "Another Cosmology" like Izayoi could match against his Aurora Pillar.
Izayoi created the Aurora Pillar from his right hand in volume 3 to kill the Huge Dragon
- Sun Authority: Leo: A Sun Authority stated to be the power of the Fifth Western Zodiac, Leo. Leo's power is based on the myth of the Nemean Lion, a beast who was completely impenetrable to blades. This protection was grated to Izayoi and blessed him with the same defense against blades, thus making it possible for Izayoi to safely catch the Spear of Indra and throw it back. In Last Embryo 1, the Minotaur attacked Izayoi with Proto Keravnos but he was completely unharmed despite that a single strike from Proto Keravnos can surpass the concept of "slash". However, this Sun Authority is not effective against destruction Gifts which contained Gifts of stars or Gifts that could slay the Celestial Spirits, as seen in volume 12 when Laius successfully slashed Izayoi by his Harpe, though Izayoi weakened his attack and only received a small injury.
- Grass Bracelet - A bracelet made of grass. It gives the owner the ability to talk to griffins. Sala gave this to Izayoi to let him communicate with Gry during the assault upon the huge dragon in the Underwood arc.
Natural Abilities[]
Keen Intellect: Izayoi is incredibly intelligent. He has created plans to help the No Names in both battle and commerce. Izayoi has shown that he is knowledgeable in religions, fairy tales and mythologies, having easily identified the [Perseus] artifacts, solved the riddle of the Pied Piper of Hamlin, and identified constellations and asterims. When Izayoi is left behind to stall for time against Azi Dakaha, Asuka remarked that without him, they cannot even come up with a proper plan of attack.

Saurian Demon King once remarked that Izayoi had the potential to be an experienced martial artist with his skills. In Last Embryo 2, when Bull Demon King managed to smash Izayoi with a pole, Izayoi immediately blocked and kicked it off his hands timely. Izayoi also had shown an arm-locking technique when he tried to pin Bull Demon King to the ground and in near the end of the fight, he threw Bull Demon King away by grabbing his horns, making him crash into several maze wall layers, Bull Demon King remarked that he didn't expect Izayoi finally got some martial art skills. Up to now it's still unknown how Izayoi got them after 3 years of timeskip but its implied Kouryuu may have taught him.
